Pecking Order
Find the best dish in town
Pecking Order is an app that allows users to vote on the best dishes in their city, and sort the dishes according to the user’s dietary style.
Problem:
1. How can I find a dish in my city that I know I will enjoy?
2. If I am a vegetarian, how can I find vegetarian dishes in my city without looking through the menus of many different restaurants? With the growing interest and awareness in special dietary needs, many restaurants now carry vegetarian, gluten-free, and low calorie options. However, there is currently no way to determine which restaurants carry these special dishes, and there is no way to determine if those dishes are any good. Furthermore, not many restaurants categorize themselves as a vegetarian restaurant, even if they carry those options.
3. Many apps currently exist that rate the best restaurants in town. But how do you know what to eat once you get to the “best restaurant?”
Solution:
1. Create an app that lists and rates the best things to eat in your city, regardless of restaurant.
2. Create an app that allows you to join a “style” based on the types of dishes you like to eat, and list those dishes based on your style.
After signing in, users will pick a food style or "tribe" category that they fall under. When the user casts a vote for a dish, they will be rating the dish based on their style. This helps people with similar food styles find specialized dishes for them.
After receiving location and the food style data, the list is made.
The filter and styles section slides up to reveal options for selecting your dishes. In the styles section, you sort the list according to style, without changing your particular style affiliation.
Additionally, add any dish to your "dishlist" by pressing the "+" next to the dish's description.
